From the beginning, the University of Lodz has been supporting Fotofestiwal, which started as a joint initiative of lecturers and students from the Institute of Sociology of the University of Lodz (Tomasz Ferenc, Krzysztof Candrowicz or Michał Biebrzyński) with the support of professors from Lodz art universities, including prof. Józef Robakowski, prof. Grzegorz Przyborek or prof. Ryszard Kluszczyński.
The 20th jubilee edition of the event goes back to its roots, the theme of many exhibitions and speeches, which are developed under the supervision of prof. Józefa Robakowski, is the city of Lodz with its workers and avant-garde history. Exhibitions will be organized in Art_Inkubator at ul. Tymienieckiego 3, as well as in galleries and informal spaces throughout the city. In the second festival centre – OFF Piotrkowska – exhibitions devoted to the history and contemporary spaces of the city will be shown.

Fotofestiwal together with #UniLodz
Every year University of Lodz participates in the event as its main partner and organizes, among others, discussion panels related to the topics of subsequent editions. Last year, this activity was expanded to include a programme of art exhibitions prepared by curators scientifically associated with the University of Lodz. Last year's part of the exhibition entitled "Ko#lekcje", which was presented in the historical building of the University of Lodz – Motyl, was prepared by prof. Tomasz Ferenc, a sociologist from the University of Lodz. Two art academies in Lodz were invited to cooperate on it: the Lodz Film School and the Academy of Fine Arts. The exhibition, which was part of the last year's Fotofestiwal, was also an important point of the 75th anniversary of the academic Lodz celebration.
When are the events with the participation of #UniLodz?
Cooperation of three universities from Lodz – the University of Lodz, the Lodz Film School and the Academy of Fine Arts – has resulted in this year’s joint exhibition entitled “FULLSCREEN. Pression of the image”, which can be seen from June 11, 2021 in the Off Piotrkowska Fotofestiwal Centre. The curator of the University part of the exhibition is dr hab. Maciej Ożóg from the Department of New Media and Digital Culture of the Faculty of Philology, University of Lodz.

In this year's programme, another point co-organized by the University of Lodz will be a debate on changes in the audiovisual sphere of Lodz throughout 20 years with the participation of: prof. Józef Robakowski (Lodz Film School), prof. Grzegorz Przyborek (Lodz Film School), prof. Ryszard Kluszczyński (UL) and Krzysztof Candrowicz, and moderated by dr hab. On June 24, at 7:00 p.m, also in Art_Inkubator at ul. Tymienieckiego 3 the FOTO SLAM will take place – a story of one photography. Free your mind with UL and Fotofestiwal. Location: nieWinni, Art_Inkubator. We invite everyone who will prepare a captivating 5-minute story devoted to one photography. Two categories: the city of Lodz and out of the box. As every year, we invite the entire community of the University of Lodz to see the exhibitions in the Fotofestiwal Centres under Open Days for the University of Lodz. This year on June 14 and 21. Students enter upon presentation of a student ID, employees on the slogan: "UL employee"
