Krzysztof Turowski

Television, radio and press journalist, publicist, columnist

Krzysztof Turowski is a graduate of the Faculty of Polish Philology, University of Lodz and the PWSTTViF in Lodz, a doctoral student at the Institut Francais de Presse in Paris.
He started his professional career as a journalist and reporter in Polskie Radio in Koszalin, Lodz and Warsaw. He cooperated with the editorial offices of "Kultura", "Kontakt" and Radio France Internationale in Paris, "Dziennik Polski" in London, "Pomost" Chicago and Radio Free Europe in Munich.  

He was an advisor to the Robert Hersant Press Group and became the first Deputy President of the  "Presspublica" company in 1991. In the 1990s Krzysztof Turowski worked as a correspondent of Polskie Radio, TVP and "Rzeczpospolita" in Paris and Brussels, and then as a Warsaw correspondent of the French daily "Le Figaro". He was a journalist of Telewizja Polska, the author and animator of the first talk show on TVP, "Godzina szczerości" [Hour of Honesty]. He also cooperated as a publicist with TV BIZNES and Polsat.

From 1997 to 2005 he held the function of the Director of the Polish Tourism Organisation in Brussels. He was responsible for the promotion of Poland in Belgium, Luxembourg, institutions of European Union and NATO. From 2005 to 2006 Krzysztof Turowski was a media advisor to the President of the Polish Tourist Organisation. He is the creator of the famous campaign with the "Polski hydraulik” [Polish plumber], an academic lecturer and diplomat, counsellor, Head of the Trade & Investment Promotion Section in Brussels. He was an activist of "Solidarity" and a delegate to the 1st Congress of "S", member of the presidium of the convention in the second round. He was interned in Sieradz and Łowicz. Krzysztof Turowski was in exile in France from 1982 to 1991 and was an associate of the Paris office of "Solidarity".

Krzysztof Turowski is member of the Young Poland movement and the London organisation "Independence and Democracy"; activist of CSSO (Conference of Solidarity Support Organisations); chairman of this organisation for Europe. He has been awarded with the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.
