Hidden meanings in public discourse
During the lecture, participants will learn how political language draws on unconventional themes, such as death, various disorders and animal behaviour. The speaker will discuss how politicians and commentators use this type of metaphor in their speeches. Drawing on phraseology, corpus linguistics and cognitive semantics, the most frequently used expressions will be presented and compared. The meeting will focus on uncovering the meaning of these expressions, particularly in contexts involving loss of power or a lack of ethics in politics.
