Międzynarodowa Szkoła Letnia BROAD-ER 2024 – Uniwersytet w Koç

BROAD-ER International Summer School 2024 entitled “Urban Migration Governance: Policy, Practice and Research” will be held on 3 and 14 June 2024 in Istanbul. The Summer School is hosted by the Migration Research Center at Koç University (MiReKoc) in collaboration with the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands, and Pompeu Fabra University, Spain.

The BROAD-ER International Summer School is to encourage collective experience for early career scholars and professionals to work in the field of international urban migration. Participants will take part in two weeks of inspiring lectures, debates and discussions led by international lecturers and experts.

The framework of the Summer School will include the following subtopics:

  • Urban Governance and Migration Studies
  • Resilient Cities and Migration Governance Capacities
  • City Typologies
  • Justice in Urban Migration Governance
  • Urban Inequality and Population Diversity
  • Public Space and Diversity
  • Urban Economies and Migration
  • Welfare and Migration
  • Housing Policies and Migration Governance
  • Intersectionality of Urban Challenges

The programme will be conducted entirely in English and its participants will receive a certificate upon its successful completion.

Who can apply to participate?

  • MA students
  • PhD candidates
  • early career researchers 
  • junior experts in the field.

The eligibility criteria are:

  • a relevant degree or equivalent experience in the field of urban migration studies,
  • an excellent working knowledge (speaking and writing) of English. 

Tuition

  • The fee for the programme is EUR 1100. The fee covers all course materials, social activities, fieldtrips, three meals a day and coffee breaks on lecture days.
  • The tuition fee for online participation is 500 Euros.

Tuition fee for the students affiliated with UNIC will be reduced by 30%

 

How to apply?

  • an application form
  • a current résumé
  • proof of English (accepted forms to be checked here)
  • a reference letter from an employer or a professor. The letter can be submitted by the applicant or separately e-mailed by the referees
  • a written work sample: published or unpublished article, book chapter, thesis chapter and/or report preferably on a related migration topic, if applicable
  • a statement of purpose/motivation letter.
