Startuje II edycja konkursów dla młodych i doświadczonych badaczy

#UniLodz IDUB are grant competitions under which University of Lodz funds research ideas of its scientists and doctoral students. By supporting them in practicing good science, the University implements its strategy of striving for research excellence in all fields and disciplines. The second edition of internal grant programmes for young and experienced researchers begins today.

Huge opportunities for researchers

Grants for young and experienced researchers are two key proposals for scientists under the internal #UniLodz IDUB grants. Just like the previous year, funding for research projects will be available to young scientists (holders of a master's degree and those who hold a doctoral degree and it was conferred not longer than 7 years ago) and experienced researchers (over 7 years after doctorate).

Prof. Elżbieta Żądzińska, Rector of the University of Lodz explains:

Internal grants are a pro-quality initiative focused on building research excellence at our University. We invest the funds obtained under the subsidy to support the best ideas and research projects carried out by our employees. In 2021, most of the available funds will be allocated to the support of researchers employed at the University of Lodz. Through implementation of professional internal competitions, we want to not only support those of our scientists who have the most interesting ideas for research, but also create a mechanism under which our employees, especially these young ones, will gain necessary experience in applying for funding and managing research projects, which will pay off when applying for prestigious external grants in the future

Applications for both competitions can be submitted from 14 June to 4 July 2021. Rules of the competitions and templates of documents required in the application process can be found in the University of Lodz Employee Knowledge Database (link)

Grants for Young and Experienced Researchers are two of the activities that will be carried out in 2021 at the University of Lodz as part of #UniLodz IDUB, a project financed thanks to a subsidy increased by 2% for the universities which joined the Initiative of Excellence – Research University (IDUB) competition in 2019. The remaining initiatives are: Doctoral Research Grants (the call for applications ended on 28 May 2021), Bonuses for publications and patents (includes awards for authors of publications from 140 points, collecting information from individual Faculties on publications eligible for the grant is in progress), the Rector's Awards for an outstanding researcher and Bonuses for grants obtained from external funds (the last two competitions will be launched in the autumn).

Information on all the initiatives implemented under the #UniLodz IDUB project can be found in the University of Lodz Employee Knowledge Database (link).

Striving for research excellence and cooperation with international researchers

Internal grant competitions also serve internationalisation – development and tightening of cooperation between the University and international researchers. As part of grants addressed to the scientists from the outside of the University of Lodz, experienced and young researchers join the University team. This favours the fusion of experiences and increasing the university’s scientific potential, supports networking and employee mobility.

The goal of the University of Lodz, as a classical university with a wide variety of disciplines, is to strive for research excellence. University of Lodz wants to become an attractive place for both domestic and international students and doctoral schools participants, as well as for the best employees, creating conditions for their development at every stage of their career based on monitoring of competence and work results.
