The next edition of Lightning Bites will be held between 4 and 6 May 2026, focusing on the role of engaged research in transforming post-industrial cities. This three-day series of short, intensive online presentations will bring together researchers from UNIC Alliance universities and invited institutions, who will share concrete examples of initiatives that connect science, public policy and local communities. UNIC is a transnational academic community that boldly conducts research to address the challenges of the modern world. Registration is open until 4 May.

The upcoming Lightning Bites, titled "Transforming Post‑Industrial Cities Together: Examples of Engaged Research Driving Change" will focus on engaged research – research approach based on collaboration between academics and residents, local governments and community organisations at all stages of the research process. The goal is to create knowledge that genuinely addresses local challenges and leads to lasting social, environmental and spatial change.
