The Western Balkans–Visegrad Fellowships programme offers funding for individual short-term stays for researchers, lecturers, academic staff and scholars from the Visegrad Group (V4) and Western Balkans (WB6) countries in two categories. Citizens of WB6 countries may apply for short-term fellowships at research institutions in V4 countries (in the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, or Slovakia), while citizens of V4 countries may apply for fellowships at institutions in WB6 countries (in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Kosovo, or Serbia). The programme is jointly funded by the Visegrad International Fund and the Western Balkans Fund.
Scholarships are intended for PhD holders and doctoral students. Scholarship stays may last from 2 to 10 weeks and may take place from September 2026 to June 2027. Support is provided in the form of a lump-sum scholarship of EUR 500 per week, paid in two installments. Additionally, applicants may apply for a lump-sum travel grant (up to 500 euros).
Electronic applications are accepted via the My Visegrad system until 17 May 2026 (12:00 p.m.) and should include the required attachments listed on the programme website.
