The workshop is a part of the artistic-scientific project "At the Crossroads of Worlds," which opens a dialogue between art and economics. At first glance, art and economics seem to belong to two entirely different realities. One operates with emotions, symbols and intuition. The other one is associated with market mechanisms, numbers and analysis. Yet, it is precisely at the intersection of these worlds that the most compelling questions about contemporary times arise. Does economics shape art? Can art comment on and interpret economic mechanisms?
Or perhaps both fields have long influenced and inspired each other?
The workshop will be led by Maria Korczak-Idzińska, curator of the exhibition " At the Crossroads of Worlds " a visual artist and graduate of the Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. She also studied ethnology at the University of Lodz. Maria currently works at Mediateka MeMo, where she regularly leads creative workshops, including collage workshops. She oversees the event's graphic design and publishes the zine. When she's not at work, she tries to steal every moment possible for some form of creativity: primarily collages (paper and digital), drawing and painting, crafting and experimenting with cyanotype. She also tries to find time to cuddle her cat, watch "Star Trek," and dream of a luxurious, fully automated, space-age queer communism.
Those interested in participating are invited to register using the registration form.
