2nd International Scientific and Training Conference “Głos, mowa i komunikacja. Profilaktyka – diagnoza – terapia”

The 2nd International Scientific and Training Conference “Głos, mowa i komunikacja. Profilaktyka – diagnoza – terapia” [Voice, Speech and Communication. Prevention – Diagnosis – Therapy] was held at the Faculty of Philology, University of Lodz from 19 to 20 June 2026. The event was organised by the Polish Society of Voice Rehabilitation in cooperation with the Department of Polish Dialectology and Logopaedics, University of Lodz.

An Interdisciplinary Conference at the UniLodz Faculty of Philology

The event brought together specialists representing numerous fields of science and clinical practice related to voice, speech and communication: speech therapists, neurological speech therapists, phoniatricians, otolaryngologists, medical doctors of various specialisations, linguists, vocal pedagogues, singers, psychologists, physiotherapists, acousticians, as well as representatives of many other professional communities.

The conference was attended by representatives of over 20 academic, medical and therapeutic centres from across Poland, as well as international guests from the United States, the United Kingdom, Turkey and Italy.

Theory Combined with Practice

The first day featured academic presentations devoted to the latest developments in the prevention, diagnosis, therapy and rehabilitation of voice as well as speech and communication disorders. Participants had the opportunity to listen to inspiring lectures presenting both research results and practical solutions applied in everyday clinical practice.

An integral part of the second day of the conference consisted of specialist workshops prepared and conducted by recognised experts representing various areas of clinical and academic practice. The practical sessions attracted great interest among participants, enabling them to acquire new skills and gain direct insight into methods and tools used in modern diagnostics and therapy.

The ceremonial concert concluding the first day of proceedings was a special highlight of the conference. The event provided participants with many moving and unforgettable artistic experiences. After an intensive day of lectures, the concert offered an opportunity to experience the beauty of the human voice in its most artistic dimension.
 

Valuable Cooperation

The conference was officially opened by Dr Mateusz Szurek, President of the Polish Society of Voice Rehabilitation and Assistant Professor at the Department of Polish Dialectology and Logopaedics, University of Lodz, who emphasised the importance of cooperation between representatives of various academic and professional disciplines.

In turn, dr hab. Irena Jaros, Associate Professor at the University of Lodz – Head of the Department of Polish Dialectology and Logopaedics – highlighted the long-standing cooperation between the Department and the Polish Society of Voice Rehabilitation. She pointed to the importance of direct meetings between the academic and clinical communities, which foster the exchange of experience, the presentation of the latest research achievements, and the building of new academic and professional partnerships.

The conference was held under the honorary patronage of the Rector of the University of Lodz, the Mayor of the City of Łódź and the Marshal of the Łódź Voivodeship.
