Languages, business and professional practice
Linguistics for Business is a six-semester undergraduate programme offered jointly by the Faculty of Philology, University of Lodz, and the Faculty of Management, University of Lodz. The programme combines intensive foreign language study with knowledge of management, intercultural communication, working in international organisations and the use of modern technological tools.
The new partnership is to provide students with even closer contact with the real world of work. Beko will participate, among other things, in the programme's advisory board, conduct practical classes with students and organise six-month internships.
Studying is not only a time for acquiring knowledge but also for exploring new career opportunities. The combination of language and business knowledge truly opens up a wealth of possibilities. It's the key to many, many doors
– explains Monika Granosik, Director at Beko Europe Shared Service Center in Łódź.

Students will gain exposure to an international environment
Cooperation with Beko is particularly important for the practical nature of the programme. Students will be able to test their linguistic and business skills in an internationally operating organisation. This is an opportunity not only to gain experience but also to better understand their professional aptitudes.
Today, students have a wealth of opportunities to explore new career paths. They can see where they see themselves – in finance, human resources or other areas of a shared services center. Combined with language, this opens up even more opportunities and allows them to develop their strengths
– emphasises Monika Granosik.
The academic perspective of the cooperation was underlined by Prof. dr hab. Stanisław Goźdź-Roszkowski during the signing of the agreement, noting the importance of combining knowledge acquired at the university with practical experience:
This is precisely the practical dimension – translating what students learn theoretically at the Faculty of Management and the Faculty of Philology into work in a specific company. Our role is to ensure that students can develop and see various opportunities
– explains the scientists.
Multilingualism still matters
Developing language skills remains a key element of the programme. The curriculum assumes achieving a high level of English proficiency and practical use of specialised, business and professional languages. Students also develop competence in a second foreign language.
As more and more communication, organisational and business processes are supported by technological tools and artificial intelligence-based systems, skills that cannot be fully automated are particularly important. As emphasised during the interview, in an international work environment, language is not only used to convey information – it is also a tool for building trust, relationships and understanding between people.
People are irreplaceable, because the ability to build relationships and a customer-oriented approach are irreplaceable. It's often said these days that soft skills are making a comeback – process is one thing but the ability to build relationships is another
– notes the director.

A partnership with students' future in mind
The signed agreement applies to the first edition of the programme, running from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2029. The partnership may continue for subsequent classes.
Thanks to the partnership with Beko, Linguistics for Business students will gain access to practical classes, professional experience and contact with an organisation operating in an international environment. For the university, this represents another step in developing programmes that meet the needs of the modern labour market, and for the partner, it provides an opportunity to co-create a pool of young talent prepared to work in multicultural teams.
