Call for START 2026 Scholarship – Opportunity for Young Researchers

The Foundation for Polish Science is announcing a call for the START 2026 programme – a prestigious annual scholarship for outstanding and committed young researchers. Applications may be submitted from 18 September to 5 November 2025.

The programme is addressed to those starting their scientific careers who can demonstrate significant research achievements confirmed by publications in recognised journals or scientific books.

Who can apply?

The scholarship may be applied for by individuals who:

  • are doctoral students in Poland,
  • are holders of PhD degree and work scientifically in Poland,
  • conduct research in Polish scientific institutions or other entities (e.g. companies, foundations) carrying out R&D activities,
  • in the year of submitting the application they were under 30 years of age (the age may be extended in justified cases).

Evaluation criteria

The competition evaluates primarily the quality and originality of the candidate's scientific achievements and most important research achievements.

Application procedure:

  • The applications must be submitted in a paper form.
  • In the case of the University of Lodz, the applications must be signed by the Vice-Rector for Science, dr hab. Dorota Golańska.
  • The deadline for submitting documents to the University of Lodz Rector's Office building no.2  (Uniwersytecka 3, room 201) is 31 October.
     

The official deadline for submitting applications for the competition is 5 November.
