After the holidays, our refrigerators often contain more than we can use. It's natural – we want everything to be perfect at the festive table. The problem begins when the excess food ends up in the trash.
According to the Institute of Environmental Protection – National Research Institute (IEP-NRI), over 2.5 million tons of food is wasted in Poland annually, with households responsible for nearly 60% of this waste. This demonstrates the significant impact our daily decisions have.
Where can you share?
Fortunately, there are places that allow you to act differently – locally and responsibly. The community fridge operating at the University of Lodz Student Campus is one of them. It can be found on Lumumby Street, Łódź, to the left of the entrance to the Student Dormitories Administration building.
This space is open to everyone – students, employees and local residents alike. You can leave excess food there or use products shared by others.
A small gesture, a big impact
Sharing food is a simple way to reduce waste and support others at the same time. After the Easter holidays, it's especially important to remember that what seems like excess to us can be a real help to someone else.
Instead of throwing it away, share it. The community fridge at Lumumbowo is waiting.
