The Łódź Juwenalia Festival 2026 will take place in two locations – on the university campuses, it will begin a little earlier, in the last week of May, while on Friday and Saturday (29-30 May), the best music will be played at the intersection of Kościuszki Avenue and Radwańska Street.
The Łódź Juwenalia 2026 is organised by the City of Łódź, and created by the three largest universities from the city – the University of Lodz, the Medical University of Lodz and the Lodz University of Technology. Łódź's art schools also provided organisational support. Preparations have been underway with student governments for several months.
The universities have chosen this format because it allows for a much safer and more attractive event to be organised while keeping participation fees low for students (PLN 30 for one day/PLN 40 for two days for students).
The joint arrangements for this year's Juwenalia were announced at a special press conference with the participation of Łódź authorities, student governments and universities at the Memo Mediatheque.
A representative of the Lodz University of Technology Student Government:
As student governments, we discussed this at length. It wasn't a quick or obvious decision, as every change evokes emotions and carries certain risks. This year's Łódź Juwenalia 2026 is special for us, as it's the first time we're participating together as the three largest universities and with the city. We want this edition to be a symbol of cooperation, not competition. For us, Juwenalia is much more than just the stage and the artists. It's about memories from our first year, new friendships and events that we ourselves often organised for the first time. That's why, from the very beginning, we were clear that we couldn't lose what is most student-centred and most personal about Juwenalia student festival.
Zuzanna Kolbus, Vice-President of the University of Lodz University Students' Government Council:
We want to make this very clear: we are not removing the Juwenalia festival from campuses. It will continue to be vibrant there. We will have our traditional events, student-organised initiatives, integration activities and the atmosphere we have built over the years. The campus is the heart of the academic community, and it will continue to beat strongly in the last week of May. We are moving the concerts to the city centre not to end anything, but to take the next step and expand the scale of the entire event.
A representative of the Medical University of Lodz Student Government:
We're doing this together because we believe that together we can give students even more. We want to show how strong and integrated Academic Łódź is. Taking concerts to the city's streets is an invitation to all of Łódź to celebrate with us. This is still our Juwenalia, created by students and for students. Only this time, without divisions between universities and on a much larger scale.
Hanna Zdanowska, Mayor of Łódź:
Łódź has been an academic city for years, and the Łódź Juwenalia 2026 is the best proof that we can work together – the city and the universities – for students. This is the first such joint celebration, combining the energy of campuses with the vibrant city centre. I am convinced that the new format of the Juwenalia will become an important event in the Łódź events calendar and strengthen the sense of academic community.
Tomasz Piotrowski, Vice-Mayor of Łódź
The joint Łódź Juwenalia student festival is the result of many months of collaboration between the city, universities and student governments. This allows us to offer an event that is attractive and affordable for students, while also being open to Łódź residents and visitors. This demonstrates the enormous potential of the city's collaboration with the Łódź academic community.
Rector of Lodz University of Technology, Prof. dr hab. inż. Krzysztof Jóźwik:
Only by working together can we achieve the best results, hence the decision to organise a joint Juwenalia. Integration of the student community across our universities has been ongoing for years, and now it's reaching a new level, also from an organisational perspective. In recent years, organisational costs have risen significantly, limiting the further development of university Juwenalia. Together, we can best meet the needs of young people. We are creating them together so that Juwenalia can aspire to the best in Poland.
Rector of the Medical University of Lodz, Prof. dr hab. n. med. Janusz Piekarski:
The Juwenalia student festival is one of the most recognisable symbols of academic Łódź. Thanks to our collaboration with the city, we can prepare an event that will better meet student expectations and demonstrate the strong community we create. I am confident that the new version of the Juwenalia festival will become a staple of Łódź's calendar of important events.
A few years ago, Łódź's public universities joined forces in the Lodz Academic Partnership, and the joint student festival is simply the next step in our increasingly close collaboration. We want to continue offering students high-quality entertainment, but at current prices, we can only achieve this by working together and with the City of Łódź. At the same time, we're not abandoning campuses; there will be student festivals there too, perhaps even more atmospheric ones than before
– assures Prof. dr hab. Rafał Matera, Rector of the University of Lodz.
The lineup and programme for the Łódź Juwenalia 2026 festival will be announced soon. Top Polish artists will perform on the stage on Kościuszki Avenue. University campuses will also be transformed into venues for applicants during the last week of May.
