The opening of the exhibition will be held on 8 January 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
The project presents 3,500 years of the history of the creation and translation of the Holy Scriptures – from the first inscriptions on stone tablets, through parchments and papyri, to the birth of printing.
What will visitors see?
- 25 stations showcasing the development of writing and writing materials
- Facsimiles and reprints of the first editions of the Bible in English, German, Polish, Greek, Latin and Hebrew
- Handwritten pages and examples of the earliest fonts
- A full-scale Gutenberg press (1:1)
- An interactive story that explains the history of the Bible in an accessible way – even for the youngest visitors
The entire exhibition comes from private collections made available for educational purposes. The project travels across Poland, visiting museums, schools, orphanages and cultural centres, and has already been seen by over 500,000 people. In the region of Lodz, the exhibition has successfully been presented in cities such as Zduńska Wola, Kutno and Zgierz.
It is an extraordinary journey through the millennia – fascinating both for history enthusiasts and for those who simply want to see how the culture of writing was born.
