Uniwersytet Łódzki promuje różnorodność

"University stands for diversity" – this is the title of a campaign launched on 1 March, which has been conducted in the urban space of Lodz and as part of which the University of Lodz promotes attitude of openness to diversity. Thanks to the campaign, international academics and teaching staff members of the University will feel appreciated and even more welcome in Lodz, not only within the University walls.

On billboards, citylights and advertising poles in the surroundings of Manufaktura and in the centre of Lodz for the period of March there will be posters showing the image of a book stretched between two rocks. The text on them – in English – promotes, through definitions, such concepts as: curiosity, cooperation, tolerance, acceptance, openness. The concepts create a foundation for global academic cooperation, exchange of ideas and knowledge sharing, as well as friendship and understanding between scientists from different countries.

The "University stands for diversity" campaign is part of the strategy of the University of Lodz and presents a desire of the UL authorities to dynamically internationalise the University. The number of scientists coming from other countries is constantly increasing. Last year, for example, the scientific and research staff of the University of Lodz was joined by a record number of 45 international employees. Their stay is financed through the Excellence Initiative - Research University (#IDUB) programme.

For years, the University of Lodz has been also running the University Diversity project, which presumes the University's openness to the world in all manifestations – from international scientific research, through employing staff from abroad, to attracting citizens of other countries to study in Lodz, that will enrich the multiculturalism of our community.

As part of the project, among others, the Christmas Guest campaign is organised - employees and graduates of the University of Lodz invite international students who spend Christmas in Lodz to their family homes for the Christmas Eve dinners. As a result of another activity the International Cook Book was created – a collection of recipes characteristic for the Easter period in various countries around the world, elaborated by international students.
