UniLodz Receives Two Grants in the "Vectors of Science" Programme

The University of Lodz has received funding for two projects under the Minister of Science and Higher Education's "Vectors of Science" programme (module: "Scientific Conferences"). This is a significant success – two out of three submitted applications received funding, confirming the high quality of initiatives developed by researchers at the University of Lodz.

International conference on censorship in Central and Eastern Europe

"The First Eastern Bloc Censorship Research Group Conference (1st EBCRG Conference)," carried out at the Faculty of Philology, University of Lodz, under the supervision of Dr Anna Wiśniewska-Grabarczyk is one of the awarded projects.

  • Funding from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education: PLN 83,455.90

The project involves organising an international conference, inaugurating a series of meetings for researchers examining the history of censorship in the former Eastern Bloc and Yugoslavia. The event will combine historical, cultural and contemporary perspectives, creating a forum for discussion about the mechanisms of censorship – both in the past and today.

Approximately 40 people will participate in the conference, including a large group of international guests –researchers, experts and witnesses to history from Europe, North America and Australia.

Pleistocene research at the centre of international cooperation

The International Field Symposium "Glacials and Interglacials of the Middle and Upper Pleistocene in Central Poland," conducted at the Faculty of Geographical Sciences, University of Lodz, under the supervision of Dr Małgorzata Frydrych is the second project that received funding.

  • Funding from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education: PLN 51,700

The symposium is the latest edition of a prestigious event organised by the INQUA Peribaltic Working Group, which brings together specialists studying the Pleistocene in the Baltic Sea region. The programme includes a session and field workshops at locations including the Bełchatów KWB open pit, the Owadów-Brzezinki Geopark and the Jeziorsko Reservoir.

Approximately 60 participants from the Baltic and Nordic countries will participate in the event, fostering international cooperation and promoting Polish research in the geosciences.

UniLodz – science created together

The obtained funding strengthens the University of Lodz's position as a university that effectively develops ambitious, interdisciplinary research projects and actively builds international collaboration. It is also an example of how diverse fields of science – from the humanities to the earth sciences – come together to create a space for the exchange of knowledge and experiences.
