A Masterful Start – Sure Thing for Gold in the Qualifier (XCE)
The competition in China got off to a flying start for the Polish team. On the very first day of racing, Maciej Jarosławski left no doubt as to his outstanding form. In the cross-country eliminator (XCE) event, he delivered an excellent performance and, following a commanding victory in the final heat, stood on the top step of the podium to claim the title of World University Champion.
Silver Earned in Mud and Rain (XCO)
The following day, athletes competed in the cross-country olympic (XCO) event. The race took place in exceptionally difficult weather conditions, with heavy rain quickly turning the course into a muddy challenge. Despite the extreme physical demands and relentless pace, the #TeamUniLodz rider once again demonstrated his exceptional class. After a heroic performance, Maciej crossed the finish line in second place, adding a silver world championship medal to his growing collection.
The athlete himself did not hide his emotions, writing in his social media post:
It’s still sinking in. Honestly, I think I’m even happier today than I was yesterday! It was a brutal, evenly matched race in absolutely perfect rainy conditions. It will definitely take a few days before it all feels real. Thank you all so much for your endless support!
Dominating the National University Championships
His successes in Asia are a wonderful culmination of Maciek’s outstanding season. It’s worth noting that the University of Lodz representative also impressed with his form at this year’s Polish Academic Mountain Biking Championships. There, he won the gold medal in the overall individual time trial classification and finished in a strong 5th place in the road race; a gold medal in the individual time trial overall classification, as well as an impressive fifth place in the mass-start race.
Pride of the Faculty of Management and the Academic Sports Association Club of the University of Lodz
Major sporting achievements are the result of years of hard training, but they also reflect an impressive ability to combine sporting passion with academic pursuits. Maciej Jarosławski is currently a student at the Faculty of Management, University of Lodz. His success on both the national and international stage is a source of great pride for the entire AZS University of Lodz Academic Sports Association Club and the wider academic community. Maciej is living proof that representing university colours can go hand in hand with successfully pursuing sporting dreams at the highest international level.
We should also note that the entire Polish team concluded the championships in China with an impressive tally of six medals.
Congratulations to Maciej and the whole Polish national team!
