Guest Lecture on Censorship of Games (and Literature) at Stockholm University

Dr Anna Wiśniewska-Grabarczyk (Department of 20th-and 21st-Century Polish Literature) and dr hab. Paweł Grabarczyk (Faculty of Philosophy and History, IT University in Copenhagen) were guests of the Institutionen för slaviska och baltiska språk, finska, nederländska och tyska (Department of Slavic and Baltic Studies, Finnish, Dutch and German) at Stockholm University on 11 February 2026. They presented a lecture entitled "How to research game censorship?". The researchers discussed, among other things, the censorship of works by Swedish Nobel Prize winner Selma Lagerlöf, as well as the censorship of the game Wolfenstein.

The meeting was attended by students and lecturers from the Department (including Polish, Bohemian and Russian language specialists). The two-hour presentation in English created a space for inspiring discussion and exchange of experiences between researchers from various countries in Central and Eastern Europe and beyond.

The event was held as part of the grant project "Censorship in new media in the philosophical and literary perspective. On the example of video games from 1985–2022" and the activities of the Eastern Bloc Censorship Research Group.
