For this reason, we are developing our cooperation with Generator Pomysłów around the AIDEAS LevelUp programme – an initiative dedicated to future competences, the practical application of AI and the safe implementation of new technologies in organisations.
Future competences start with critical thinking
The competences that will determine the quality of work and education in the years to come, i.e. critical thinking, responsible use of technology, understanding the mechanisms behind AI, and the ability to consciously design digital tools, are at the heart of our cooperation with Generator Pomysłów.
As a university, we want to contribute not only expert knowledge to this cooperation but also a humanistic and social perspective – particularly important when technology begins to influence decisions, trust and interpersonal relationships.
– Universities are relatively conservative organisations. This sometimes makes it more difficult to react quickly but at the same time it protects us from unreflective fascination with fashionable technologies. In the context of artificial intelligence, our researchers have much to say: from implementation aspects, through legal issues, to ethical considerations. These are precisely the areas that will determine whether AI becomes a genuine civilisational support or a source of new risks. This is why cooperation with partners who are close to the practical use of these tools is so important – emphasises Dr Tomasz Ciesielski, Head of the Technology Transfer Office of the University of Lodz.
UniLodz as a substantive partner of the AIDEAS LevelUp programme
One of the first joint activities is the participation of the University of Lodz in AIDEAS LevelUp. The programme brings together more than 2,000 participants interested in the practical use of AI and the development of digital competences.
Expert-led classes within AIDEAS LevelUp will be delivered by individuals affiliated with our university:
- Prof. Artur Modliński from the Faculty of Management, University of Lodz will discuss the psychology of algorithms and the design of AI agent interfaces in a way that builds responsible user trust,
- Dr Edyta Bielak-Jomaa from the Faculty of Law and Administration, University of Lodz will in turn address the issue of responsibility for errors made by AI agents in the workplace.
Thanks to the involvement of staff at the University of Lodz, academic knowledge will meet the real challenges faced by the labour market and organisations.
AI in organisations – time for research closer to reality
The University of Lodz is also preparing, together with its partner, a large-scale study on the use of AI in work and organisations.
The project is planned to include approximately 2,000 respondents in order to answer questions that are often missing from existing market reports. The issue is no longer only who uses AI but why organisations still struggle to fully harness the potential of these tools.
We plan to identify the barriers that arise during implementation and explore how to design technological processes in a way that is safe for people.
Science, art and responsible AI design
The partnership also includes activities carried out jointly with the University of Lodz Foundation. As part of a project based on the Perebel method, researchers from the University of Lodz, experts from the fields of culture and art, and technology partners will work together on how to teach the responsible use of AI and how to design digital agents supporting students and learners.
This is yet another example of an approach in which technology is not an end in itself, but a tool supporting people.
The University of Lodz closer to a changing world
The cooperation with Generator Pomysłów demonstrates the direction in which the University of Lodz is developing – an institution open to collaboration, responsive to social and technological changes, while maintaining a critical and responsible perspective on the development of AI.
As a higher education institution, we continuously strive to modernise our educational offer, conduct research addressing the needs of organisations, and reach new audiences with academic knowledge – including working professionals, graduates and all those who wish to consciously navigate the world of new technologies.
