Uniwersytet Łódzki x Ravekjavik po raz drugi

University of Lodz has officially become a partner of the Ravekjavik Electronic Music and Visual Arts Festival for the second time! On Friday (19 April) a press briefing was held at Niciarniana 52 in the former textile buildings with the participation of Festival partners on Friday (19 April). In addition to the representatives from the University of Lodz, there were representatives of the Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts Łódź and the Lodz Film School.

University of Lodz started cooperation with the Ravekjavik Festival during the previous edition of the event. Dr Monika Talarowska from the Institute of Psychology took part in the discussion on psychoactive substances "Narkotyki? Na co to komu?” [Drugs? What good is this to anyone?]. The recording from last year's meeting, which was very popular, can be found in another piece of news (in Polish). The university was also one of the sponsors of the event.

This year we have co-created Ravekjavik for the second time.

From the very beginning, we had the intuition that Ravekjavik was a cultural and socially engaged event that went beyond the usual formula of a music festival. The hunch turned out to be right – the festival popularises art and raises important issues that cannot be passed over in silence. It also promotes the post-industrial heritage of the city, which is very close to us, a member university of the UNIC Alliance (European University of Cities in Post-Industrial Transition)

– said Bartosz Kałużny, who is responsible for Art&Science communication at the University of Lodz..

In this year's edition, we have again joined the daytime part of Ravekjavik. Our researcher Dr Katarzyna Nowakowska-Domagała, a clinical psychologist, will participate in the discussion on the effects of alcohol use and abuse. She works with people struggling with addiction on an everyday basis.

Courage, commitment and cooperation are some of the values of the University of Lodz. Words are followed by actions, an example of which is our cooperation with the Ravekjavik festival. We believe that it is long-lasting cooperation

– concluded Kałużny.

You can find more details about the Festival, which will be held on 15 June in the former textile buildings at Niciarniana 52, on the project's website (visit the Ravekjavik website).
