The university cooperation with the police

The training was the latest instalment in a series of classes conducted under an agreement between the University of Lodz and the Provincial Police Headquarters in Łódź. Their goal is to improve the safety of the academic community by providing practical training for employees to respond to crisis situations.

The classes were led by warrant officers, Łukasz Spruch and Jarosław Ziemba.

The training programme

During the meeting, the following topics were discussed:

  • methods for counteracting aggression in the academic environment,
  • principles for conducting a conversation with someone behaving dangerously,
  • procedures for responding to threatening situations.

The practical part included a demonstration of basic self-defence techniques. The officers also reviewed the faculty administration workstations for safety and possible organisational improvements.

The faculty authorities were represented by Vice-Dean of the Faculty, Agnieszka Gralińska-Toborek.

Conclusion:
We would like to thank the officers for conducting the training and the employees for their active participation. Further meetings as part of the academic community safety programme are planned in the coming months.
