Diwali, also known as Deepawali, is one of the most important traditional festivals in India, which is celebrated all over the country. It is an opportunity to get together with family members and friends, who are mostly given sweets. During this time, homes are decorated with candles and lanterns, fireworks light up the sky and sweets are given to the beloved ones.
On the occasion of Diwali, the BISUL students, teachers and parents prepared more than 10 traditional dances. Some of them were in the Bollywood style, while others were based on traditional Indian dance styles, such as kathak.
The BISUL secondary school students staged an Indian epic – the Ramayana. The Ramayana, which is part of Indian mythology, tells the story of Prince Rama's battle against a demon who abducts his wife. Rama's victory is solemnly celebrated every year during Diwali. It is a celebration of new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness.
