On 20 October 2025, the BioMedChem Doctoral School of the University Lodz and Lodz Institutes of Polish Academy of Sciences hosted an integration meeting for first-year doctoral students and their supervisors.
Participants took part in an orienteering run organised by Uczniowski Klub Sportowy “Orientuś” (Orientuś School Sports Club). The activity offered a playful way to get to know the University of Lodz campus, connect across disciplines, and find time for informal, non-academic conversations with supervisors.
Beyond the timed competition, participants answered questions about the Doctoral School and the University of Lodz. For those who do not use Polish every day, the challenge was particularly engaging — questions were asked in English, but answers had to be given in Polish, turning the competition into an intensive, hands-on language session.
After the run, everyone was treated to a warm Polish meal — including traditional pierogi, which proved especially popular with international participants. The event took place in an excellent atmosphere; all participants completed the run successfully and started the new academic year in high spirits.
We extend our sincere thanks to upper-year doctoral students Ms Wiktoria Wierzbińska, MSc, Ms Joanna Michalska-Madej, MSc Eng., and Ms Magdalena Kuzioła, MSc, for their support.
Project co-financed from the budget of the Łódzkie Voivodeship.
