The ceremony will be held in the Prof. Wacław Szubert Assembly Hall, Lindleya 5 on 3 March 2026 at 4:00 p.m.. During the event we will jointly celebrate the scientific achievements of the people who make up the University of Lodz.
Science has the face of specific individuals
During the ceremony, 15 postdoctoral degrees will be awarded, and in the second part, 41 new PhD degrees. The honourees are individuals who represent diverse disciplines, backgrounds and experiences, but share one thing in common: a consistent pursuit of knowledge and a willingness to develop and pass it on.
Each of these individuals is supported by others – supervisors, research teams, administrative support, friends and family. Because a university is built on relationships. It is through these relationships that research questions arise, projects mature and publications emerge. The habilitation and doctoral degree are a symbolic validation of this journey – and the beginning of the next stage.
Continuity and responsibility
Since its inception, the University of Lodz has awarded 2,675 habilitation degrees and 6,677 doctoral degrees. These numbers demonstrate the scale and tradition of our university, but above all, they speak to the generations of people who have contributed to, and continue to contribute to, its achievements.
Each new academic degree represents more than just a personal success. It strengthens our academic community, fosters research, fosters new fields of study and fosters new research teams. It also represents a commitment to integrity, courage in thought and responsibility for one's words.
At the University of Lodz, we believe that science thrives where there is room for dialogue and cooperation. Where experience meets curiosity and individual ambition meets concern for the common good. The habilitation and doctoral promotions ceremony is an expression of this idea – it demonstrates that a university is a place where knowledge connects people.
A joint celebration
We would like to invite the entire academic community of the University of Lodz – students, those pursuing doctoral degrees and employees – as well as the families and friends of those receiving their diplomas, to participate in the ceremony. We should celebrate a day when individual achievements become a source of shared pride.
Let's meet on 3 March of the current year to emphasise that the University of Lodz is more than just an institution. It's about people, their work, passion and perseverance. It's a community that advances science, shapes the next generation of researchers and builds the future – responsibly and with others in mind.
See you at the Prof. Wacław Szubert Assembly Hall!
