POSITION DESCRIPTION

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

My special field of acedemic interest is American poetry, from Romanticism, through Modernism and Post-Modernism to the present day. I conduct this research in historical, theoretical, and comparative contexts. In this last aspect, I often compare American authors with Polish ones. From these perspectives, I have published academic papers on W. Whitman, E. Dickinson, W. Stevens, W. C. Williams, John Ashbery, Frank O'Hara, Robert Lowell, Louise Gluck, Charles Bernstein, Rae Armantrout, Peter Gizzi, as well as Polish poets: J. M. Rymkiewicz, C. Miłosz, Z. Herbert. I also engage in research on contemporary American novels, focusing on authors such as Don DeLillo and Cormac McCarthy. I am a two-time Fulbright Foundation grantee and a scholarship recipient from the Tadeusz Kościuszko Foundation. I am also a poet in the Polish language and a translator of American poetry. Since 2016, I have been the Head of the Department of North American Literature and Culture.
