SCIENTIFIC AND SOCIAL MEDIA PROFILES
POSITION DESCRIPTION
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Timely development of detailed programs for the subjects taught and making them known to the students.
2. Conducting teaching classes properly prepared in terms of content and methodology.
3. Conducting consultations for students at a rate of no less than 2 hours per week.
4. Concern for the high quality of education and compliance of the teaching work with the principles of the internal system of educational quality assurance.
5. Participation in scientific research conducted in the Department of Modern History of the University of Lodz and participation in the publication of its results.
6. Implementation of other professional tasks in accordance with the profile of the organizational unit of the University of Lodz,including:
- working in university, departmental and other committees and teams (based on separate appointments),
- Participation in organizational work, i.e. organization of seminars, conferences, workshops, scientific circles, etc,
- Cooperation with domestic and foreign scientific and research and teaching institutions,
- Performing other work related to the teaching process, scientific activities and promotion of the University, faculty and other organizational units of the University of Lodz.
7. Educating staff by fulfilling the duties of supervisor of bachelor's or master's theses and fulfilling the duties of reviewer and examiner.
8. Improving one's professional qualifications.
9. Observance of work order (punctuality, full use of class and consultation time, proper maintenance of teaching and scientific documentation, including in electronic form).
10. Thorough knowledge of external and internal normative provisions,regulations and instructions applicable to matters within the scope of the employee's activities, in particular the Statute of the University of Lodz, the Rules and Regulations of the University and the Code of Ethics for Academic Teachers of the University of Lodz.
11. To carry out other official instructions issued by the immediate supervisor related to professional work and official tasks.
1. Oversee the publishing process of the journal "Review of Historical Sciences" at all its stages, including:
- conducting correspondence with authors of texts, reviewers, scientific and language editors, translators, initiating editor,
- completing materials (articles and other texts submitted for printing, reviews, authors' statements) for individual issues of the journal and submitting them to the Publishing House of the University of Lodz,
- directing the submitted texts for evaluation by the Editor-in-Chief or subject editor at the stage of selection of materials (internal review),
- sending texts to reviewers indicated by the Editorial Board for their opinion (external review),
- directing texts to the author's correction at the stage of review and language editing,
- forwarding materials for proofreading and substantive-language editing.
2. Pre-editing of texts accepted for printing in the journal, so that they meet the recommendations of the publishing instructions.
3. Editorial development and editing of individual issues of the journal.
4. Checking pdf files after editorial revision and re-editing.
5. Maintaining records of paper and electronic editions (author statements, reviews, funding acknowledgements, publishing contracts).
6. Creating a publishing plan for the magazine and supervising its timely implementation.
7. Creating and updating mailing databases of authors, reviewers, Program Board members, potential authors and reviewers.
8. Preparation of information for grant applications, development of promotional materials (newsletters, call for papers, flyers, etc.).
9. Initiating cooperation with databases adequate to the journal profile.
10. Checking the consistency of the journal information on websites and reference databases.
11. Conducting the publishing process in the Open Journal System.
12. Administering the website of the journal.
13. Maintaining the journal Facebook profile.
14. Following journals with similar topics on social media.
15. Attracting new authors, reviewers and readers from leading scientific centers (domestic and foreign).
16. Monitoring indicators relevant to the evaluation of the journal: rejection rates, the number of articles published, the percentage of authors and reviewers in important domestic and foreign centers.
17. Analyzing the needs of the journal in terms of the requirements of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and international reference databases.
18. Carrying out other work orders issued by the immediate supervisor related to professional work and job tasks.
BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
I'm a postdoctoral researcher in history, a university professor in the Department of Modern History at the Institute of History of the University of Lodz, and secretary of the journals “Review of Historical Sciences” and “Acta Universitatis Lodziensis. Folia Historica.” Graduated with honors in art history in 2002 and history in 2005 from the Faculty of Philosophy and History of the University of Lodz. In 2011, I'm defended my doctoral dissertation entitled The image of France in the age of revolution in the pages of the Warsaw press from 1789–1794, written under the supervision of Professor Zbigniew Anusik. In June 2023 The University of Lodz Commission for Academic Degrees conferred on me the degree of Doctor of Arts in the discipline of history.
