Transport from Warsaw to Lodz 

If you want to get from the Warsaw Chopin airport to the Łódź City Centre, you can use Flixbus which goes directly from the airport to the Łódź City Centre. The prices and timetables may be found at: FlixBus Warsaw-Lodz.

When you arrive in Lodz use only licensed taxi services that belong to corporations and are marked with the emblem of the city. They wait in front of the airport, the train and the bus stations, but you can also order one by phone.

The cost of the taxi should be around 6-8 PLN the moment you get in and then around 2-3 PLN per kilometer. On Sundays and after 10 pm it can be a little bit more expensive – approx. 4 PLN per km. These rates can vary slightly depending on the company.

• Public Transport in Lodz

The city transport network in Lodz consists of tram and bus services. It is operated by MPK Łódź. (website: www.mpk.lodz.pl/lang.action?lang=en ). Trams and buses are in service until midnight and at later hours they are not so frequent. Tickets can be bought in newsagent’s stand, small shops, in machines located next to the most popular stops or on buses and trams in the first carriage. The machines in the vehicles usually accept only cards. Always validate the ticket after you enter the bus or tram. The puncher (usually a brown or orange box at eye level) stamps the date and time on your ticket.

We recommend you download the app “Jak dojade” to check the public transport and purchase tickets: Google Store or Apple. The app is simple to use as it provides you with the navigation systems, informs you of the number of tram/bus you need to take and any possible transfers in case of indirect trams or busses. You can simply buy the ticket by adding your credit card.

Zone 1 - the city of Łódź
Zone 2 - all suburban routes outside of Łódź
NOTE: there are completely different fees and tickets on local buses in Zgierz and Pabianice.
 

REDUCED PRICE
is available, among others, to pupils and students. Students of Polish universities must have a valid Polish student ID. Students from foreign universities must have an ISIC card. The appropriate document should be shown in the case of a ticket inspection.
You can pay also reduced price for children from 4 to 18 years of age. Children from 7 to 18 years of age must present a valid school ID.
Persons over 70 years old and children under 4 travel free of charge presenting a document with a date of birth.

TICKETS
Tickets for 20, 40 and 60 min are valid in both zones – 1 and 2 – regardless of borders.
One day ticket is valid until the end of the day on which it was validated.
After validation, you can use trams and buses (day and night lines) changing as many times as you like.

The ticket in the smartphone application must be purchased and activated before the start of the journey, i.e. before the vehicle leaves the stop.

The card is issued after completing the application form available at the Customer Office of MPK-Łódź at ul.Tramwajowa 6. You can also complete the application form on www.migawka.lodz.pl and collect the card at the Customer Office. Subsequent tickets might be purchased at the Customer Office, in special sales points, on www.migawka.lodz.pl or in ticket machines on the streets and inside some vehicles.

School of Polish Language for Foreigers of the University of Lodz 

School of Polish Language for Foreign Students of the University of Lodz is the oldest and one of the biggest centres for teaching Polish in Poland. The school offers courses that will prepare you for studies and work in Poland. It can also prepare you for the state certification examination. The offer includes group, induvial, and holiday courses on all level of proficiency (A0, A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2) with various numbers of course hours. The centre has an accreditation of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA).
