On 11 April 2025, the International Hub hosted a festive Easter Gathering at the historic Biedermann Palace. The event brought together international researchers and doctoral candidates for an afternoon of networking, cultural exchange, and celebration.

We were honoured by the presence of the Rector of the University of Lodz, Prof. Rafał Matera, who warmly welcomed the participants and emphasised the importance of international collaboration within the academic community.

Guests enjoyed traditional Polish Easter dishes, made their own Easter palms,connected with fellow academics, and had the chance to experience a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the heart of Łódź.

The Iranian Spring Celebration that took place on 18 March 2025 at the Training and Conference Centre of the University of Lodz brought together a large number of participants.

The evening began with an engaging presentation, delivered by Prof. Bahman Jabbarian Amiri, on traditional Iranian customs and the significance of the celebration. Afterwards, all the guests gathered around a bonfire to witness and take part in the traditional fire-jumping ritual - a symbol of leaving behind the old and embracing the new. After the performances, everyone enjoyed a barbecue, creating a warm and festive atmosphere. Many participants also brought their own homemade Iranian dishes, sharing a variety of delicious traditional flavors with others. Throughout the evening, Iranian music played in the background, creating a lively atmosphere as many guests danced and enjoyed the celebration.

The event was a wonderful opportunity to experience Iranian culture, connect with other researchers, and celebrate the arrival of spring in a festive and lively atmosphere.

The University of Lodz has once again proved that science and tradition can go hand in hand. As part of a festive gathering held on 10 December 2024, international researchers and doctoral students had the opportunity to immerse themselves in Polish Christmas customs. The event was organised by the International Hub and funded under the CONNECT grant of the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA).

The meeting began with an information session, during which participants gained valuable information on available research grants and opportunities for academic career development in Poland. Vice- Rector for Science and Education, Prof. Katarzyna de Lazari-Radek, extended Christmas wishes, emphasising the importance of international scientific cooperation. Then, the participants decorated the Christmas tree together, using hand-decorated baubles. This symbolic moment was an excellent opportunity to integrate and exchange experiences in a less formal environment. At the end everyone was invited to taste traditional Polish Christmas dishes. For many of the participants, this was their first opportunity to taste such delicacies, which prompted many enthusiastic comments and questions about Polish Christmas traditions.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

On 10 December 2024, the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Lodz hosted another event as part of the Science Inspires series, titled "Chemistry in Focus".

The participants had the opportunity to listen to inspiring lectures presented by three international researchers: Prof. Valentin Mirceski, Dr Nabi Ullah, Dr Sujoy Das and Dr Lukasz Półtorak. Each of the lectures addressed important scientific topics, compelling participants to reflect on the essence of conducting scientific research, the future of science, and stimulating discussions.

The event was organised by the International Hub and funded under the CONNECT Welcome to Poland project implemented with the support of the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA).

On 21 March 2024 the International Hub team organised a meeting for international researchers and doctoral students on the occassion of the upcoming Easter Holidays. The meeting was attended by dr hab. Robert Zakrzewski, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Quality of Education, who welcomed all attendees and extended his Easter wishes to the University of Lodz community.

The meeting started with a short presentation during which the attendees had the opportunity to watch a promotional video featuring university researchers, and learn about new initiatives and upcoming events organised by International Hub. After the presentation the guests could try some traditional Polish Easter dishes and engage in discussions. The event ended with a string concert at the Biedermann Palace performed by Vivenda String Quartet and Lumiére ensemble, which made the evening truly memorable.

On 19 December 2023 the community of international researchers and doctoral students was hosted by the International Hub Team at the Bidermann's Palace to celebrate the upcoming Christmas. As always the event was an excellent opportunity to make new international acquaintances and exchange experiences. This year, our guests were challenged to take a quiz on Christmas customs and traditions. We have also prepared some team building activities and games followed by lunch during which everyone could try some Polish traditional dishes served during Christmas. The event was full of positive energy and enthusiasm, which made it an unforgettable experience.

Rector of the University of Lodz, Prof. Elżbieta Żądzińska and Vice-Rector for International Relations, Prof. Łukasz Bogucki were also able to join us during this special time for which we are extremely grateful.

The International Hub Team held an informal organisational meeting at the University of Lodz Library in the Rossmann coworking space during which we have presented our new portal for international researchers. The portal has been created to facilitate employment at the University of Lodz and your stay in Poland. It offers a variety of information regarding employment procedures, research grants, employee benefits, insurance and much more.

We also invited a member of the Science Centre team who described the procedures for applying for additional research grants. The participants were also able to attend consultations with International Hub and Science Centre representatives. 

We hope that the meeting was as informative as you had expected and that it will make your stay in Poland easier and more enjoyable.

The International Hub team organised another Language Exchange meeting for our comminuty of international researchers! As always, we exchanged ideas, talked about our cultures and had a lot of fun.

We are hoping that even more people will be able to join us next time!

International Researchers of the University of Lodz had another opportunity to participate in an event organised within the Science Inspires initiative. The event took place on 23 May 2023 at the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection. Dr Izabela Stachowicz and Dr Phillippe J.R. Kok gave lectures on the topic of tropical forests. The lectures were followed by a visit to the Didactic and Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Biology.

This April the International Hub Team organised an International Easter Meeting at the Biedermann's Palace in Łódź. Some of our guests made presentations on their national spring customs and traditions. We had some team building activities and games, followed by an Easter lunch consisting of traditional Polish dishes. The event was also attended by Vice-Rector for International Relations, Prof. Łukasz Bogucki.

One of the most interesting museums in Lodz is located in the magnificent mansion built for the family of one of the wealthiest factory owners of the 19th century Lodz, Izrael K. Poznańki. Apart from the exhibition of its interiors from the turn of the 19th and 20th century and the exhibition chronicling the history of the industrial Lodz, a number of rooms have been dedicated to artists related to the city and those who were meritorious to the city’s inhabitants. Those exhibitions showcase memorabilia of Artur Rubinstein, Julian Tuwim, Władysław Reymont, and Marek Edelman. 

Together with international researchers, our team visited the museum on 17 March. We had a tour of the museum with an English-speaking guide, who talked in detail about all the events and works of art. The tour has given us a historic insight into the city of Lodz and was an unforgettable and informative experience.

The International Hub Team organised a Christmas Event at the Biedermann's Palace for international researchers of the University of Lodz. We were extremely happy to invite you to a Modern Art Museum in Lodz within the Science Inspires initiative. A tour with an English-speaking guide was surely very informative and exciting. 

Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź is one of the oldest museums of modern art in the world. Collection, representing the main directions of art, such as Cubism, Futurism, Constructivism, Purism, Neoplasticism and Surrealism was open to public on 15th February 1931. The collection has since been consistently expanded by including international modern and contemporary artworks. Due to this fact Muzeum Sztuki is now the only museum in Poland with such extensive collection of world art of the 20th and 21st century.
