Uniwersytet Łódzki w zestawieniu polskich instytucji naukowych w świetle rankingu TOP 2%

Based on the ranking list of 2% of the most highly cited researchers in the world, Science Watch Polska Foundation has compiled a summary of the leading Polish universities and research institutes. University of Lodz is among them.

At the end of 2021, we reported that a ranking list of top 2% researchers had been published for the next year in a row. It constitutes an individual list of the best scientists in the world. It was developed by analysts from Stanford University, Elsevier Publishing Group and SciTech Strategies. Among the most highly cited scientists in the world there were 23 researchers from the University of Lodz, which was a better result than that obtained in 2020 (18 scientists). We wrote in detail about this topic in December 2021.

Based on the list, the Science Watch Polska Foundation has compiled a summary of the leading Polish universities and research institutes. University of Lodz is mentioned four times in the Foundation's ranking list.

Biology is represented in Poland by 37 individuals included in the TOP 2% ranking. Majority of them are from the University of Lodz and the Jagiellonian University.
Biomedical research is represented by 36 individuals from Poland. Leaders in this field are again the following universities: University of Lodz and Jagiellonian University.
Math and statistics are represented by 17 individuals. Leaders in this areas of research are: University of Lodz, AGH University of Science and Technology, Lodz University of Technology, Wrocław University of Science and Technology, and University of Rzeszów.In the case of the research in the field of social communication and media 2 individuals are leading – they are employees of the University of Lodz and of the Polish Institute of Advanced Studies (PIASt), Polish Academy of Sciences.  

In the light of the ranking prepared by the Foundation, the most numerous on the TOP 2% list are researchers from Poland conducting research in the fields of: physics and astronomy (182 scientists), clinical medicine (173 scientists), chemistry (165 scientists), as well as technical sciences (128 scientists).
