Katarzyna Krakowska graduated in Geography from the University of Łódź. Throughout her professional career, she has been closely connected with geography, tourism, and nature. She is currently the Director of the Landscape Parks Complex of the Łódź Region, where for over 20 years she has been working for the protection of nature and landscapes.
She has initiated many programmes serving the protection of biodiversity, including “Fruits of Memory”, under which more than 70 traditional orchards have been planted in the Łódź region, and “Greening Łódź Region”, thanks to which tens of thousands of trees and shrubs have been introduced into the regional landscape. She is the author and co-author of numerous publications on nature-related topics. She serves as a member of the editorial board of Wędrownik, a periodical published by CFK PTTK. She is also a member of the Regional Council for Nature Conservation and the Scientific Council of the Botanical Garden in Łódź, as well as a member of the Presidium of the Polish Landscape Parks Agreement.
She collaborates with universities and institutes as a lecturer, member of programme boards, and initiator of field classes, internships, and student placements. She shares her expertise, among others, as a lecturer on courses for tourist guides and in training programmes for local governments. She also teaches at the University of the Third Age at Lodz University of Technology. She leads nature walks in the region, e.g. for Green Łódź. Her passions include art and herbalism. She donates her paintings to charity auctions, e.g. for the Foundation for Support of Leukaemia Patients and the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity.
In 2024, she was awarded a medal for her contribution to the development of Łódź on the occasion of the city’s 600th anniversary.
