Maria Nowakowska

Maria Nowakowska – promoter of architectural heritage, researcher, animator, artist and activist, associated with her own brand, Maria od detalu (Maria from Detail). Co-creator of the “Ceramic Trail of Nawrot Street”, where she is responsible for creating ceramic plaques and mosaics depicting the heritage of the street discovered by historian Marcin Nowicki. A guide to Łódź, author of four books on local architecture and art in public spaces, co-author of three exhibitions on heritage, as well as dozens of films, brochures and articles promoting it. 

Programme director of the DetalFest Architectural Detail Festival, which has been recognised by the National Heritage Institute and distinguished as one of the 20 best Polish projects at the National Project Exchange organised by the National Centre for Culture. Co-author and producer of a game about Łódź architecture – ‘Detail Hunters. Łódź’, which won an award in the global architectural education competition Golden Cubes Award. A graduate of the University of Łódź, a scholarship holder of the Mayor of Łódź, awarded the Gold Badge for the Protection of Monuments by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, and a winner of the Medal for Meritorious Łódź Citizens on the occasion of the 600th anniversary of the city.
