About MSA-SKAD 2026

The aim of the MSA-SKAD 2026 Conference is to provide a friendly and vibrant forum for sharing the latest ideas and realizations in the area of statistical methods. 

We bring together:

  • various scientific disciplines - mathematics and statistics, economics, finance, sociology, medicine...,
  • universities and public institutions such as Eurostat, Statistics Poland, National Bank of Poland...,
  • science and public administration,
  • representatives of the academic world and private companies, COMARCH, Pfizer, StatSoft, GFK Polonia...,
  • experienced scientists and students.

Our mission is to publicize the highest-quality statistical research and, in particular, to promote the methods of statistical analysis among students and young researchers.

Invited speakers

President of the Statistics Poland
 

Marek Cierpiał-Wolan, PhD, Professor at the University of Rzeszów, President of the Statistics Poland since January 2025. From 2008 to 2024 he was the director of the Statistical Office in Rzeszów, where he carried out numerous research projects, including on big data and combining data from different sources. As coordinator of the WHO and Statistics Poland methodology team, he co-developed the Refugee Health Survey methodology recommended by the UN Statistical Commission. He has held lectures and internships in prestigious academic centres, including the UK, USA, China and South Korea. Author of more than 150 scientific publications, reviewer of numerous articles in foreign journals. Editor-in-chief of Wiadomości Statystyczne. The Polish Statistician and scientific editor of Statistics in Transition new series.

 

Christian Hennig is Full Professor at the Department of Statistical Science "Paolo Fortunati", University of Bologna, Italy. Before, he was Senior Lecturer at the Department of Statistical Science, University College London. He also worked at the University of Hamburg, where he did his PhD in mathematics, and ETH Zürich. His main research interests are cluster analysis, philosophy of statistics, robust statistics, data visualization and statistical modelling. He is editor of the Statistica journal and Associate Editor of three journals. He was Secretary of the International Federation of Classification Societies 2014-2020. He has published more than 50 papers in journals including the Annals of Statistics, the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Journal of the American Statistical Association, Journal of Machine Learning Research and Foundations of Science. He is first editor of the Handbook of Cluster Analysis. He presented two read discussion papers at the Royal Statistical Society and gave keynote presentations on several conferences. He gave statistical advice to more than 100 clients from a wide range of application areas.

 

Professor Eugeniusz Gatnar has been affiliated with the University of Economics in Katowice since 1984 and currently holds the position of full professor at the Faculty of Finance. He heads the Department of Economic and Financial Analyses. He obtained the following academic degrees: PhD (1993), habilitated doctor (1999), and full Professor in Economic Sciences (2009). His research focuses on the application of multivariate statistical analysis methods. He is the author and co-author of more than 170 scientific publications, including 8 monographs and books, two of which: Symbolic Methods of Data Classification (PWN, 1998) and Nonparametric Methods for Discrimination and Regression (PWN, 2001) received individual awards from the Minister of Science and Higher Education. During his tenure at the University of Economics in Katowice, he served as the Vice-Dean (2002–2008) and the Dean of the Faculty of Management (2008–2010). From 2007 to 2015 he was a member of the Statistical Council to the Prime Minister. He is currently a member of the Scientific Statistical Council to the President of the Statistics Poland and a member of Statistics Poland Methodological Commission. Since 2015, he has also been a member of the Committee on Statistics and Econometrics of the Polish Academy of Sciences. From 2007 to 2010, he served as an advisor to the President of the National Bank of Poland, later as a member of its Management Board (2010–2016), and subsequently as a member of the Monetary Policy Council (2016–2022). For his public and professional activity, he has received several national honors, including the Medal of the National Education Commission, the Gold Cross of Merit, the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, the Cross of Freedom and Solidarity, and the Medal of the 100th Anniversary of Regaining Independence. He was also awarded the honorary badge for services to the Statistics of the Republic of Poland.

 

Stanislaw Maciej Kot is a professor-emeritus at the Department of Statistics and Econometrics, Gdansk University of Technology. His research area concerns the Distributional Analysis with special attention to income inequality, poverty, and equivalence scales. Recently, his scientific activity has concentrated on measuring utility functions and inequality aversion. He is the author of Nonstandard Equivalence Scales and their Applications for European Union Countries (2023), and co-author of Global and Regional Economic Inequality: Methods of Measurement and Evidence (2019). He is the author of various articles, most recently in Equilibrium. Quarterly Journal of Economics and Economic Policy.

 

Michał Lewandowski received his PhD in Economics from the European University Institute in Florence in 2010 and has since been affiliated with SGH Warsaw School of Economics. His research focuses on decision theory under various sources of uncertainty, including risk, ambiguity, temporal delay, and strategic uncertainty. His work has been published in leading decision theory and decision analysis journals such as Management Science, Journal of Risk and Uncertainty, European Journal of Operational Research and Journal of Mathematical Psychology. He has served as Principal Investigator on several National Science Centre grants and has also worked as a consultant for Statistics Poland.

Abstracts

The abstracts should be submitted to the MSA-SKAD 2026 organizers via the registration form.

The abstract should briefly summarize the content of the paper, be clear, descriptive, and no longer than 200 words. Mathematical formulas and references should be avoided.

Articles

MSA-SKAD 2026 papers presented at the Conference must be sent to to the Scientific Committee for publication qualification till October 30, 2026. Please use only the following email address: msa@uni.lodz.pl. During paper submission, please include two preferred journals of the listed below:
