10 Years of the Asian Affairs Center at the University of Łódź

On 16 December 2025, we celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Asian Affairs Center at the University of Łódź. Participants in the organized debate included representatives of the business environment, business sector, EU and Polish public administration, think-tank analysts, and members of the academic community. The meeting was opened by Prof. Rafał Matera, Rector of the University of Łódź, and moderated by Center's initiator and current chair, Prof. Mierzejewski.

In the panel discussion entitled “What Knowledge of Asia Do We Need?”, the following speakers took part: Tomasz Sadzyński, President of the Łódź Special Economic Zone; Filip Grzelak, Member of the Management Board of Hatrans; Tomasz Sajewicz (Polish Radio, online connection from Seoul); Prof. Małgorzata Pietrasiak (University of Łódź); Dr. Alicja Bachulska (ECFR, online); Prof. Łukasz Gacek (Jagiellonian University); Bolesław Woźniak, Deputy Director of the Strategy Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (online); Prof. Agnieszka Kuszewska (Jagiellonian University); Prof. Beata Bochorodycz (Adam Mickiewicz University); Dr. Filip Grzegorzewski (EEAS, Brussels, online); and Dr. Małgorzata Jakimów (Joint Research Centre, European Union).

The event was partnered by the Łódź Special Economic Zone and the company Hatrans.
