The evening of December 18th (beginning at 6:00 p.m.) is titled "La lumière de Noël," meaning "Christmas Light." Members of the Chamber Music Club of the Grazyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Lodz, operating within the Faculty of Performing Arts, will introduce the audience to a solemn and magical atmosphere. Instead of a set of popular carols, the young vocalists, along with piano students Mariia Yakymenko and Piotr Jurkiewicz, will perform Christmas songs from various eras and corners of Europe. The programme includes songs by Robert Stolz – "Christrose," Claude Debussy – "Les Angélus," Gabriel Fauré – "Noël," and John Ireland – "The Holy Boy."
Exploring the legacy of 19th-century musical literature, students of the Chamber Music Club at the Academy of Music in Lodz seek mutual inspiration in chamber song and vocal-instrumental combinations. While performing traditional works, the members are open to contemporary possibilities and needs, creating creative transcriptions and arrangements.
Members of the Chamber Music Club of the Grazyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Lodz include: Michał Bolkowski, Magdalena Borowik, Magdalena Jabłońska, Katarzyna Jakubowicz, Zofia Kozłowska, Magdalena Major, Agata Mielczarek, Ewelina Polak, Stanisław Serwa and Jan Siorek.
Admission to the concert is free, but registration is required. The University of Lodz community can register at kultura.uni.lodz.pl
