The project includes the synthesis of new N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) of different ring sizes, as well as their complexes in order to thoroughly investigate their steric, electronic and catalytic properties. The ligands planned for synthesis, having asymmetric substituents on nitrogen atoms, will enable filling the steric gaps between the well-known and widely used NHCs such as IMes, IPr or IPent. Obtaining appropriate transition metal complexes will allow for full characterisation and indication of the relationship between structure and catalytic activity. In addition, the most effective catalysts will be used in late functionalisation of important pharmaceuticals.
As part of the project, which will be carried out over 36 months, involvement of students and employment of a post-doc are planned. We would like to offer our congratulations on this significant success and wish further success in your research!
