It is in September, which is the International Month of Suicide Awareness and Prevention, that educational and training meetings on this topic are held with all employees of the University of Lodz student dormitories – individuals responsible for managing the University of Lodz student dormitories, those working at the reception desk and those responsible for cleaning the facilities.
During the meetings with Marta Nowacka, Coordinator for Counteracting Discrimination, Mobbing and other Undesirable Behaviour, the employees learn:
how to recognize the symptoms of a mental health crisis among students and employees,
where to seek help,
how to respond to a suicidal crisis.
Support for students
Out of concern for the mental health of students of the University of Lodz, on World Suicide Prevention Day, we would like to remind you that you can count on our support! Are looking for assistance in coping with various changes and challenges in the study process? Take advantage of free psychological consultations or support group meetings at the Support and Accessibility Centre of the University of Lodz, which also offers psychoeducational workshops during which you can learn how to take care of your mental health. You can also receive tips to help you find ways to take care of your psychophysical state and derive greater satisfaction from studying and everyday life.
Mental health of our community is important to us all year round, which is why we oppose discrimination, mobbing and any behaviour that leads to psychological or physical violence.
How do we do that? UniLodz UNIFIED
The University of Lodz is a place that promotes openness, respect and diversity. We believe that full personal and professional development is possible only in an inclusive and equitable academic atmosphere. The #UniLodz UNIFIED campaign is an initiative we have undertaken to build a safe, supportive and equal work environment at the University of Lodz.
As part of #UniLodz UNIFIED we have introduced the University of Lodz Support and Accessibility Centre. It provides psychological support and crisis intervention. We have also established the Equality Council, appointed the Anti-Mobbing and Other Undesirable Behaviours Coordinator and implemented new procedures. We have appointed an Ombudsman for Academic Rights to support individuals experiencing misconduct, whereas as part of the "UniLodz – a Discrimination-Free Zone" project, we are offering a series of training sessions aimed at strengthening a culture of mutual understanding, equality and safe cooperation.
Need help or support? We're here for you!
