About us


The Department of Operational Research at the University of Lodz is part of the Institute of Logistics and Computer Science, which is part of the Faculty of Economics and Sociology. It currently employs one assistant professor, five adjuncts, and one assistant. The employees work in research and conduct didactic classes in the broadly understood field of operational research. Operational research (Management Science) is a comprehensive field of science related to the theory of decision-making and mathematical modelling in economics. They include many detailed methods and optimization algorithms:

  • mathematical programming (linear and nonlinear),
  • multi-criteria programming,
  • optimization methods used in network analysis,
  • logistics and inventory analysis,
  • optimization methods used in business management and banking,
  • data analysis methods,
  • decision-making methods under uncertainty and risk,
  • stochastic simulation methods.
