Bio

Dr Monika Kaźmierczak is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Polish Dialectology and Logopaedics, Chair-Elect of the International Cluttering Association (ICA), and a Certified European Stuttering Specialist (CESS). She is a speech-language therapist, voice coach, voice rehabilitation specialist, teacher of Polish as a second/foreign language, Polish philologist, and an Early Development Support (WWR) therapist.

In her research and outreach activities, Dr Kaźmierczak currently focuses on the nature, prevention, diagnosis, and therapy of cluttering. She is the author of numerous academic publications on this still relatively little-known language and communication phenomenon and actively participates in initiatives aimed at raising awareness of cluttering. In 2021, she founded and has since run the Facebook group Grupa G (jak GIEŁKOT) [“giełkot” is the Polish term for “cluttering”], a community for anyone interested in learning more about cluttering or cluttering combined with stuttering: https://www.facebook.com/groups/172674225070364 . In 2023, at the 3rd World Conference on Cluttering, she presented a research poster examining the role of Grupa G in raising awareness of cluttering in Poland: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/375085431_Poster_The_impact_of_the_fb_GROUP_G_on_the_popularisation_of_knowledge_on_cluttering_in_Poland.

To present her research on cluttering, she was invited to participate in the University of Łódź Nauka inspiruje (“Science Inspires”) project (https://www.uni.lodz.pl/aktualnosc/szczegoly/nauka-inspiruje-dr-monika-kazmierczak) , as well as in the Nauka przez duże K (“Science with a Capital K”) project run by Forum Akademickie  (https://forumakademickie.pl/dr-monika-kazmierczak-z-gielkotem-jest-troche-jak-z-yeti/). She has also taken part in radio programmes devoted to cluttering, including Trójka do trzeciej (Polish Radio Programme 3) and Szkiełko i oko (Radio Łódź). She also inspires young speech-language therapists with her passion for research. In 2023, research conducted by a team led by Dr Kaźmierczak was recognised by an international jury. The poster Predicting cluttering in young adults: preliminary results of students’ self-assessment received first place in the Best Student Poster Award competition: https://www.uni.lodz.pl/en/news/details/speech-therapy-students-from-the-university-of-lodz-won-the-international-best-student-poster-award . For her innovative approach to conceptualising language and communication chaosmos (dis-order) in cluttering within a non-antagonistic framework, Dr Kaźmierczak received the UNIC Thematic Lines Best Paper Award 2026. The award was presented during the 2nd UNIC Thematic Conference at Koç University in Istanbul (https://www.facebook.com/unicuniversity/posts/-unic-is-delighted-to-announce-the-winners-of-our-unic-best-paper-awards-present/1567476942055721/ ; https://www.uni.lodz.pl/aktualnosc/szczegoly/unic-thematic-lines-best-paper-award-2026-dla-dr-moniki-kazmierczak-naukowczyni-ul-odebrala-nagrode-podczas-konferencji-w-stambule ).

As a speech-language therapist, Dr Kaźmierczak currently teaches undergraduate students in the logopaedics programmes and postgraduate students in Media and General Speech-Language Therapy (Logopedia medialna z logopedią ogólną) and Voice Disorders Rehabilitation (Rehabilitacja zaburzeń głosu). As part of the Logopaedics Laboratory at the Department of Polish Dialectology and Logopaedics of the University of Łódź, she provides speech-language support to children referred for therapy. She also works as a speech-language therapist at a preschool in Łódź, delivers training courses and workshops, and provides individual consultations and regular therapy sessions to people with communication difficulties, as well as consultations for professional voice users and public speakers. As an expert, she has also contributed to the parenting radio programme Wychowanie to wyzwanie (“Parenting: A Challenge”) on Radio Łódź.

Dr Kaźmierczak has completed numerous professional courses and training programmes, including the international European Stuttering Specialization (ESS). She has participated in several research grants as a specialist. Her voice can be heard, among other places, in audio recordings accompanying the publications Otwarta Łódź. Skrypt do kursu języka polskiego jako obcego na poziomie podstawowym and Otwarta Łódź. Skrypt do kursu języka polskiego jako obcego na poziomie B1, as well as in the textbook KulFon. Kulturowa fonetyka (nie tylko) dla Ukraińców [KulFon. Cultural Phonetics (Not Only) for Ukrainians], where she also served as the coordinator of the logopaedics team (https://www.polonistyka.uni.lodz.pl/kulfon/wykonawcy-projektu).
