Academic and Professional Activities

Research Activity

• Conducting and coordinating research projects and developing an independent programme of scholarly research, with a particular focus on:
  • determinants of suicidal behaviour and attitudes towards suicide;
  • participation in the long-term international research project Hope Barometer since 2019;
  • author and co-author of approximately 40 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, with a combined Impact Factor of 40.304.

Academic Collaboration and Knowledge Exchange

• Collaborating with academic institutions, professional organizations and other stakeholders to advance psychological science and translate research findings into practical and clinical applications.
• Contributing to the scholarly activities of the journals Psychology and its Contexts and Advances in Psychiatry and Neurology as a member of their scientific committees.
• Contributing to suicide prevention initiatives, e.g., through the Polish Suicidological Association (2013–2025), ESPPA (2026-).
• Participating in the development of the postgraduate programme Applied Suicidology , developed by Dr Daria Biechowska (SWPS University, Sopot, academic year 2025/26).
• Collaborating with Lodz University of Technology, including the Academic Trust Centre and the Office for Persons with Disabilities, on the development of a psycho-preventive guide addressing psychological coping with the COVID-19 pandemic (2020).

Teaching Activity

• Teaching undergraduate and graduate psychology students in the following areas:
  • Psychological Research Methods;
  • Cognitive Processes;
  • Psychological Support in Middle Adulthood;
  • Psychological Support;
  • Suicidology;
  • Master's Thesis Seminar;
  • Ethics in the Psychology Profession.
• Teaching in English, including:
  • Introduction to Suicidology for incoming international students;
  • contributing to the internationalization of the university through international teaching and research collaboration, development of institutional and professional contacts, guest teaching, and academic visits at partner universities within Erasmus and UNIC initiatives;
  • international academic collaboration with, among others, Masaryk University, University of Ostrava, University of Ljubljana, University of Primorska, Rīga Stradiņš University, University of Vilnius, University of Bari, Koç University, and University of Oulu .

Student Supervision

• Supervising and assessing undergraduate and graduate student research.
• Serving as a reviewer of more than 50 Master's theses in psychology, primarily in the field of clinical psychology.
• Supervising the Student Scientific Association of Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology in previous years.

Academic Service and Institutional Engagement

• Contributing to the organizational activities of the University of Lodz.
• Member of the University of Lodz Committee for Counteracting Discrimination and Other Unwanted Behaviours.
• Participating in expert panels and advisory teams and providing psychological expertise for applied research and development projects.
• Providing expert input as a psychology specialist in the development of scenarios for the ASE laboratory as part of the Accessible Lodz University of Technology project (WND-POWR.03.05.00-00-A039/20), 2024.
• Collaborating with the Consultative Team for the Protection and Support of the Mental Health of Officers of the Police, Border Guard, State Protection Service and State Fire Service, as well as employees of these services, operating within the Ministry of the Interior and Administration.

Clinical and Professional Experience Supporting Teaching

Teaching practice is informed by professional and clinical experience, including:

• providing psychological support since 2008;
• specialist training in clinical psychology, including clinical placements in hospital wards;
• a research internship at Masaryk University in Brno (2018);
• professional experience working with patients with neurological conditions and disabilities at ŚDS in Głowno (2014);
• designing and delivering personal development workshops at Lodz University of Technology;
• volunteering at the Crisis Intervention Centre in Łódź (2009);
• teaching students enrolled in medical and health sciences programmes at the Medical University of Lodz (2009–2016);
• completing professional development programmes at the University of Lodz aimed at enhancing teaching competencies, including Teaching Excellence (2025);
• completing a teaching placement at the University of Oulu, Finland (2026);
• ongoing professional development through clinical supervision.

Dissemination of Psychological Knowledge

• Disseminating research-based psychological knowledge beyond academia and engaging with local communities.
• Representing the University of Lodz in public and community-facing initiatives.
• Participating as a panellist in the discussion Jak to na trzeźwo as part of the Ravekjavik Festival, Łódź, 15 June 2024.
• Co-organizing psychological support for refugees from Ukraine in 2022, including coordinating the preparation and activities of University of Lodz psychology students volunteering as crisis intervention workers.
