Responsibilities:
1. Conducting research consistent with the academic profile of the Department of Algology and Mycology;
2. Teaching in the following fields: Biology, Environmental Protection, Biomonitoring and EcoCity;
3. Carrying out day-to-day tasks related to the organization of work at the Department of Algology and Mycology.
In 2004, I began full-time, single-cycle Master's degree studies in Biology at the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection, University of Lodz. I prepared my master's thesis, entitled "Benthic Diatoms of Reservoirs on the Sokołówka River," at the Department of Algology and Mycology under the supervision of UŁ professor Joanna Żelazna-Wieczorek. I completed my studies on time, specializing in Environmental Biology.
I began my third-cycle (doctoral) studies at the University of Lodz in 2011. I conducted research for my doctoral dissertation at the Department of Algology and Mycology under the supervision of UŁ professor Joanna Żelazna-Wieczorek. The subject of my research was cyanobacterial communities developing in coldwater springs in the Lodz Voivodeship. In 2015, I defended my doctoral dissertation on the topic "Taxonomy and Ecology of Cyanobacteria in Coldwater Springs" and earned a doctoral degree in natural sciences, in the field of biological sciences, discipline of ecology, specializing in algology.
From the completion of my doctoral studies until the end of February 2016, I gained experience in corporate work at Nordea Bank Danemark A/S S.A. Branch in Poland as a junior process administrator.
In March 2016, I joined the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection of the University of Warsaw as an assistant professor, researcher, and lecturer in the Department of Algology and Mycology.
My main interests are related to my research work. I conduct research in the field of biological sciences in the following areas:
1. Assessment of the ecological status and quality of surface waters affected by anthropogenic impacts using the bioindicative properties of phytoplankton algae;
2. Implementation of diatom analyses to evaluate the results of restoration and sustainable water resource management in urban areas.
3. Taxonomic and ecological characterization of cyanobacterial communities in natural ecosystems with a low degree of human transformation, leading to the pioneering use of cyanobacteria as biological indicators of waters with very good and good ecological status.
4. Cyanobacteria and algae as biological factors in the degradation of buildings and historic structures - analysis of the diversity and biological properties of cyanobacteria and algae growing on building materials.
5. Evaluation of innovative methods for protecting buildings and historic structures against biodeterioration processes caused by the growth and activity of photosynthetic microflora
In my "free" time, I pursue my passions for sports (figure skating, fitness) and working with dogs in canine sports such as obedience, IGP (formerly IPO), and Mondioring.
