POSITION DESCRIPTION

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

I am a history graduate from the Faculty of Philosophy and History at the University of Łódź. After completing my doctoral studies, I joined the Faculty of Business and International Relations at the Vistula University where I was, among other things, Deputy Head and then Head of the International Relations Teaching Programme responsible for didactic reform.

I advocate project-based teaching methods, in which the lecturer is a guide, a tutor for the student in his individual or group pursuit of planned goals. I see students as co-authors of the classes who are not only learning themselves, but, simultaneously, teaching the other participants of the classes. This enables the active acquisition of knowledge and skills through the implementation of practical tasks.

My research interests focus on contemporary and past international relations with a particularly on the Arctic, issues of emotion in interstate relations, World War I and US-British relations. My inquiries have resulted in numerous articles published in academic journals, e.g. , Przegląd Zachodni, Sprawy Międzynarodowe, Dzieje Najnowsze or Historyka. Studia Metodologiczne. In 2017 my book Najbliższe narody. Stosunki brytyjsko-amerykańskie w dobie prezydentury Theodore'a Roosevelta (1901-1909) has appeared.

My experience up to now led me to the conviction of the need of combining the craft and methods of international history with the methodology of the social sciences, as well as benefit from the achievements of other fields and disciplines, such as neuroscience.

An important place in my professional activity is the delivering of knowledge to a wider audience. I took part in the Warsaw Science Festival, in the popular science panel of the Łódź Sci-Fi and Fantasy Festival KapitularzFantastyka Festival, and I conducted classes in the Children's University of Interesting History - DUCH. My texts were published in the portals Histmag, Hrabia Tytus and in such magazines like Focus.Historia and Nowe Książki.

I prefer to spend my free time with my family and friends. Despite my busy schedule, I try to find some time to read fantasy books, spy novels by John Le Carre or comic books. However, I always manage to find time to listen to podcasts, rock and progressive metal, jazz or opera.
