Job description

assistant professor

Department of Polish Dialectology and Logopaedics

Classes in speech therapy with audiology, speech therapy.

Bio

I am a speech and language therapist specializing in neurological speech-language pathology, with many years of clinical, research, and teaching experience. My professional focus is on the diagnosis and therapy of language communication disorders, speech, voice, and swallowing disorders in children and adults, with particular emphasis on disorders of neurological and neurodegenerative origin. I combine academic work with active clinical practice, which enables the continuous integration of scientific research with therapeutic experience.

I am a graduate of the University of Lodz, where I was awarded the degree of Doctor of Humanities (PhD) in 2012. For many years I have been engaged in teaching and research activities, regularly publishing the results of my studies in scientific journals and monographs.

Research and Organizational Activity

My research interests focus on:

  • neurological speech-language pathology in adults and children,
  • language communication disorders in neurodegenerative and dementing diseases (including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis – ALS, progressive supranuclear palsy – PSP, Huntington’s disease, and spinocerebellar ataxias),
  • aphasia and dysarthria,
  • voice disorders in children and adults,
  • speech-language rehabilitation of patients after oncological treatment in the head and neck region,
  • disorders of primary functions (breathing, swallowing – dysphagia, and oral functions), including those associated with dysarthria,
  • therapy of patients before and after orthodontic treatment,
  • preparation and therapy of patients qualified for orthognathic treatment.

I serve as Secretary and Editor of selected volumes of the scientific journal Logopaedica Lodziensia. I actively participate in the academic community, presenting the results of my research at national and international conferences. I am a member of the Executive Board of the Polish Society for the Rehabilitation of Voice Disorders. I regularly attend specialist courses, training sessions, and conferences in the fields of speech-language pathology, neurological speech-language pathology, and voice rehabilitation.

Teaching Activity

I teach a wide range of courses for students, including:

  • voice disorders in neurological diseases,
  • diagnosis and speech-language therapy of voice disorders,
  • speech disorders in Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias,
  • language communication disorders,
  • aphasia in children and adults,
  • language communication disorders – dysarthria,
  • communication disorders in neurodegenerative diseases,
  • voice production workshops,
  • diction and voice emission,
  • breathing in speech-language therapy (elements of the Buteyko method),
  • the Buteyko method – workshops,
  • speech-language therapy of patients after laryngectomy,
  • diploma seminar.

I regularly act as a supervisor of bachelor’s theses, providing academic guidance for undergraduate research projects in the field of speech-language pathology.

Clinical Activity

I actively develop my professional practice by working at the Neurological Speech-Language Pathology Outpatient Clinic at the Military Clinical Hospital No. 2 in Łódź, named after the Military Medical Academy.

In my clinical and research work, I pay particular attention to patients from high-risk groups, including individuals with aphasia, Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Parkinson’s disease, progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), spinocerebellar ataxias, as well as patients after stroke and traumatic brain injury. I also work with patients after oncological treatment in the head and neck region, including individuals after laryngectomy.

In addition, I conduct clinical work in a long-term care facility, where I carry out clinical-observational research projects based on data derived from routine therapeutic practice.

At the same time, I run a private speech-language therapy practice.
