The exhibition "Zapatrzeni – zasłuchani – zaczytani. Dziecięce strategie uczenia się przez zdziwienie" is an interdisciplinary project that presents children as active creators of sound images.
The project has been created as a result of cooperation between the Department of Childhood Education and the Institute of History of Art, University of Lodz, and is presented in the lobby of the modern building of the Faculty of Educational Sciences, University of Lodz – in the heart of the New Centre of Lodz.
The exhibition was inspired by the artistic picture book "Zamieniam się w słuch, czyli opowieści dźwiękiem malowane" [I'm all Ears, or Stories Painted with Sound] by Monika Wiśniewska-Kin, illustrated by Marta Ignerska. The exhibition will feature high-quality works by children from Lodz kindergartens who participated in workshops conducted in compliance with the “Effective Surprise” method.
A formal analysis of these works leads to the conclusion that children intuitively transcend the boundary between representation and expression, constructing coherent systems of visual symbols. For art historians and educators, these are not only a record of the creative process but also a visual testament to thought, in which line, colour and rhythm become tools of cognition.
With warmest regards
