Ewelina Stępnik-Godawa graduated from the Faculty of International and Political Studies at the University of Łódź, specialising in international relations, and from the Faculty of Law at the SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Warsaw, specialising in law. During her studies at the University of Łódź, she undertook international internships, including at the United Nations headquarters in New York and at Oxford Analytica in the UK. She worked at the London office of The International New York Times. 


She gained professional experience at, among others, the Chancellery of the Prime Minister and the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, as well as in law firms and consulting companies. For several years, she has been a regulatory manager at Allegro, the largest e-commerce platform in Central and Eastern Europe and one of the largest companies of its kind in Europe. She is responsible for monitoring regulations in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. 


She is a barrister (not practising). In her professional work, she focuses on analysing the impact of legislation on business, issues relating to legal transparency, as well as matters concerning the so-called ‘gold-plating’ of EU regulations during their transposition into national law. Her particular areas of interest include new technology law, regulations relating to online platforms, as well as competition and consumer law. 


She is the mother of two wonderful sons.
