COST Actions are four-year, pan-European, interdisciplinary research networks that bring together individuals from diverse backgrounds to explore a specific topic. This format allows participants to expand their professional networks and advance their careers.

The PHESPiC Action will bring together hundreds of individuals representing academia, the private sector, public authorities, and civil society organisations. Their work will be organized into five thematic working groups:
1. Student housing, urban campuses and student neighbourhoods,
2. Leisure, culture and student life in cities,
3. Mobility, employment and student careers,
4. Diversity and inequalities among students in cities,
5. Bridging theory and action: Urban governance and planning for students.

The launch of the Action marks a significant success. It secured funding in a competition with a success rate of only 7.3%, with PHESPiC winning approval on its first attempt.

Dr Jakub Zasina contributed to the development of the grant application at the invitation of Prof. José Prada-Trigo from the University of Valladolid, Spain—the initiator, Main Proposer, and Chair of PHESPiC.

Dr. Jakub Zasina is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Urban and Regional Studies and Planning, Faculty of Economics and Sociology, University of Lodz. He is a researcher focusing on student populations in cities. He has explored various aspects of their presence in cities through original research projects conducted to date in Poland, Italy, and Canada. His research interests focus primarily on studentification and student housing.

Further information about the Action can be found on the COST website. Those interested in participating in the Action and working in its working groups may submit their applications via the COST website.
