What inspired you to become a scientist?

I would ask „Who inspired you to become a scientist?”. Perhaps, even more than by my interest in language and translation, I was inspired by the people I was lucky to come across. They greatly helped me understand the potential of linguistics and translation studies and showed me what the work of a scientist looks like.

What impact does your work have on the surrounding reality?

My research has a chance to contribute to a better understanding of the relationship between decisions made when translating audiovisual works – films and video games – and the experience of their recipients. The results may come in useful in the translation process but also in the creation of original versions.

How do you understand the term: profession of a scientist?

I understand this profession as a responsible pursuit of new knowledge – representing an end and a means to an end, not necessarily at the same time.
