LUMEN – a platform for cooperation and development
The LUMEN conference, organised by PCG Academia, Times Higher Education and the Polish Rectors' Foundation, has been bringing the academic community together for years, providing a forum for discussion on strategic directions for the development of higher education. This year's edition, co-organised by the Jagiellonian University, focused on the following topics:
- new sources of university financing,
- digitisation of processes and management,
- innovative IT projects supporting teaching and administration.
The University of Lodz actively participated in the thematic sessions, presenting its experience in digital transformation and research project management. The panellists included the UniLodz Deputy Chancellor, Anna Rolczak and dr hab. Anita Ciesielska, Associate Professor at the University of Lodz from the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection. The University of Lodz presence among the leaders confirms its strong position in innovation and inter-university cooperation.
THE World University Rankings Award – recognition for commitment
The award is presented during the LUMEN Conference to Polish universities included in THE World University Rankings 2026 and to the most digitalised higher education institutions. During the awards ceremony, the University of Lodz was recognised for its active presence in international rankings and the implementation of modern solutions in university management. This distinction is further proof that the University of Lodz is consistently pursuing a development strategy based on quality, innovation and openness to cooperation. The award was accepted by the University of Lodz Deputy Chancellor, Anna Rolczak.
University of Lodz in the global THE ranking
It should be noted that the University of Lodz is included in the prestigious Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, which evaluates universities in terms of their achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The University of Lodz was ranked in the 801–1000 range globally and 11th in Poland in 2024, achieving the highest national position in the area of SDG 15 – Life on Land.
Why is this important?
The Award of THE World University Rankings and the presence of the university in THE ranking confirm that the University of Lodz is not only a strong research centre, but also an active participant in the international debate on the future of higher education. The University of Lodz prioritises cooperation, innovation and social responsibility – values that shape a modern university.
