9th Edition of the "Talented at School, Brilliant at the University" Programme Has Been Launched

We've just launched the 9th edition of the programme, intended for students who want to experience research under the supervision of scientists from the University of Lodz. This year, as many as 240 students will complete their first-ever research projects, benefiting not only from our infrastructure but also from the expertise and commitment of the academic community.

A total of 333 students from 42 schools in Lodz and the Lodz Voivodeship (26 schools in Lodz and 16 in the region) applied for the programme and 240 students qualified.

The lucky winners will complete projects on topics such as DNA barcoding of Polish invertebrates, the portrayal of rebellious women in English-language fantasy literature and green skills as a component of sustainable development under the supervision of our educators.

The official opening of the latest edition of the "Talented at School, Brilliant at the University" programme was an opportunity for students to meet with students and staff from the University of Lodz. Administrative staff were happy to answer questions about development opportunities at the University of Lodz, demonstrating that studying is more than just classes – it also encompasses personal development, a rich student life and support offered at every stage of one’s studies.

The students also attended a lecture by Prof. dr hab. Krzysztof Pabis, entitled "Nauka nie musi być trudna – od laboratorium do prezentacji wyników" [Science Doesn't Have to Be Difficult – From the Laboratory to Presenting Results]. The lecture provided them with insights into why research is conducted and ways to popularise its results.

At the same time, they were able to register at the University of Lodz Library, symbolically marking their entry into the academic community.

Qualifying for the programme is not only an honour but also a real opportunity – students have an opportunity to experience the university atmosphere early, learn about our research facilities and begin building their own educational path for future studies.

The "Talented at School, Brilliant at the University" programme encourages high school students to choose Lodz as their future academic centre, allowing them to get to know our campus and study programmes in advance and to establish relationships typical of the academic community. The program's official launch was funded by the Lodz for Young People project.

The official inauguration of the programme was financed by the Łódzkie dla Młodych [Lodz for the Young] programme.
