Are you a student or doctoral student at our University? Do you have an idea that could have a real impact on the future of UniLodz? Then "I Decide with UniLodz" – the University of Lodz's student and doctoral participatory budget – is for you! Your idea can have a real impact on the development of our university. How? It's simple – let's go through it together, step by step…

Opublikowano: 02 March 2026

How can I submit a project?

As a student or doctoral student, you can submit your project individually or as part of a team, including mixed student-doctoral student teams. If you're submitting a project as a team, you must choose a representative. Importantly, each student/doctoral student or team may submit only one project.

When it comes to the costs, the maximum cost of a single project cannot exceed 30% of the total budget for the calendar year – this year, it's PLN 300,000.

Additionally, the submitted projects must be feasible to implement within a period no longer than 12 months from the date of their selection for implementation, with the possibility of extending the implementation period to 18 months upon request.

You have a whole month to apply – from 2 March  to 2 April 2026!

What is the University of Lodz's student and doctoral participatory budget?

The UniLodz participatory budget provides funding to implement your ideas! These can be infrastructure projects, but also all kinds of integration, scientific, cultural, sports or environmental initiatives – you decide! It's important that your projects have a universal nature. What does that mean? They should serve the broader community – we reach beyond faculties and doctoral schools, implementing ideas that can benefit all of us!

A little hint: universal nature is particularly attributed to projects concerning common areas, such as the Student Campus or the University of Lodz Library, as long as they serve a wide audience and their positive effects impact the entire academic community.

Universal – I get it! What else should these projects be like?

Remember that you are designing for Łódź, but above all for people, therefore your projects should:

  • ensure accessibility for people with special needs – the projects must be planned and implemented in accordance with the principles of universal design, so that their outcomes are accessible to all members of the academic community, regardless of their level of fitness;
  • improve the technical, IT and material infrastructure of the University of Lodz, in line with the needs and expectations of students/doctoral students;
  • raise the standard and comfort of living for students and doctoral students on the premises of University of Lodz and in its buildings;
  • strengthen the integration of the student/doctoral student community;
  • foster the scientific, cultural, artistic or sporting development of students/doctoral students;
  • support the development of self-governance for students/doctoral students.

At the University of Lodz, we take care of well-being, which is why the principle of minimising the environmental footprint is applied in projects planned and implemented within the budget.

What does this mean in practice? The projects should also foster respect for the natural environment, adapt to a changing climate and promote sustainable development within the University of Lodz's premises, buildings and operations, in particular by:

  • reducing energy and water consumption and increasing energy efficiency,
  • reducing waste generation, supporting reuse, repair and recycling (circular economy),
  • applying nature-based solutions (e.g., planting, improved water retention, greenery protection, biodiversity initiatives),
  • reducing emissions and pollution and supporting sustainable mobility,
  • performing educational and informational activities that raise environmental awareness among the academic community.
