The aim of the cooperation is to develop joint scientific, educational and outreach activities related to the exploration and protection of the park’s natural environment. A particularly important aspect of the partnership will be joint geological, geomorphological and palaeogeographical research intended to improve understanding of the geological structure, landforms and environmental development history of the Knyszyn Forest area.
The cooperation will combine the scientific potential of the Faculty of Geographical Sciences of the University of Lodz with the experience and expertise of the Park’s staff. It will also enable the results of research projects to be used in educational and outreach activities. An important element of the cooperation will be the involvement of students in field research, providing them with an opportunity to gain practical experience in contemporary methods of geographical environment research.
The first joint research activities commenced on the very day the agreement was signed and are focused on investigating the origin and structure of selected landforms within the park, including the distinctive Wał Świętojański.
We believe that this newly established cooperation will provide a foundation for future joint research, educational and outreach projects and will contribute to an even better understanding and protection of this unique area.
